HONEYMOON HEAVEN
When you dream up the ideal honeymoon destination, what do you see? For the vast majority of us, it would look something very close to Furaveri Island Resort & Spa. The tropical 23-hectare coral island sits like a pearl among a necklace of islands in the Raa Atoll, just a short seaplane hop from Malé International Airport, or a domestic flight followed by speedboat. Loved-up honeymooners might only have eyes for each other, but their adoring gaze may break for a while to take in the surrounds – knock-out white-sand beaches, pod chairs swinging from coconut palms, the gently lapping turquoise sea – all in all, a scene seemingly plucked from a postcard. Among the inclusions in the “Experience Honeymoon” package are complimentary transfers and a VIP personalised villa check-in by a resort host; an utterly romantic, three-course, candle-lit dinner set up on your villa terrace or on the beach; a honeymoon bath ceremony with bubbles, petals and a bottle of sparkling wine; a 60-minute couples’ massage and spa discounts; a sunset cruise for two and a 30-minute photo session with a photographer, immortalising memories long after you return home.
PRICE: The “Experience Honeymoon” package in a Beach Pool Villa is priced at approximately US$4,271 for a four-night stay.
AVAILABLE: Subject to availability.
TEA, SEA & SAFARI
The long-awaited canvas and bamboo safari camp, Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala in Sri Lanka, founded by the creators and producers of Dilmah Ceylon Tea, will open in November, joining its sister properties to create a seven-night circuit dubbed the “The Resplendent Relais & Châteaux Sri Lanka Journey – Tea, Sea & Safari”. All well-connected by floatplane or luxury SUV transfers, there is simply no better way to take in the extraordinary beauty and culture of the island nation – staying in atmospheric luxury at Ceylon Tea Trails, the world’s first tea bungalow resort bordering the World Heritage Central Highlands; journeying to the palm-fringed shores of Cape Weligama and finishing with a safari-style wilderness experience at Wild Coast Tented Lodge. A stunning itinerary and immersion into local culture for travel connoisseurs with a taste for adventure.
PRICE: From US$3,267 per person based on double occupancy (two fully-inclusive nights at Tea Trails, two fully-inclusive nights at Wild Coast Tented Lodge and three half-board nights at Cape Weligama).
AVAILABLE: 1st Nov-15th Dec 2017 and 16th April–15th July, 2018. From 11th Jan–15th April, 2018 the price increases to $3,994 per person.
PEAKS AND PINNACLES
One to book for a wildly fabulous, once-in-a-lifetime ski-season experience, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe has concocted the tremendously extravagant “Pinnacle Après Adventurist Winter Package”. Available to those booking into a Residential Suite, it’s a four-night stay that leaves no room for wanting… anything. After a private-jet journey from San Francisco and a meet and greet with your own personal Après Adventurist (a quasi butler/concierge/best friend who will curate a series of unforgettable experiences from the likes of a private heli-skiing/snowboarding experience on the Ruby Mountains to an Arctic Cat adventure tour), there’s more VIP cossetting once you hit the slopes, with Northstar Platinum Access and Platinum Tøst (think private seating at a mountain-view bar with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, a charcuterie board and a warm fire), complimentary ski/snowboarding equipment with a private demo fitting, as well as a private guide and first-tracks privileges. Post-ski or -boarding session, there’s private after-hours access to The Ritz-Carlton Spa for indulgent treatments, an in-residence dinner prepared by the resort’s executive chef (a sommelier will also pop by to pair wines), and a Chef Table dinner experience in Manzanita – just a few examples in the (lengthy) list of inclusions. Of course, access to the brand-spanking-new Lake Club, an exclusive waterfront clubhouse launched by the hotel last month, is included.
PRICE: From US$125,000 for a four-night stay in a three-bedroom Residential Suite, with a maximum of four guests.
AVAILABLE: During the 2017-2018 winter season.
