The Cheval Blanc collection will have a new addition in the first half of 2020 following the opening of its newest maison, Cheval Blanc Paris. Details of the project are sparse, but a spokesperson for the company said the Art Deco-inspired property would be home to 36 rooms and 36 suites with views of the River Seine and the Eiffel Tower. Arnaud Donckele of three Michelin starred La Vague d’Or at Cheval Blanc St-Tropez will come aboard as head chef at the new Parisian hotel, which will occupy part of the former La Samaritaine department store, a stone’s throw from Pont-Neuf.
The building is currently undergoing a major renovation led by Japanese architectural firm Sanaa, which has been tasked with restoring the original designs by Frantz Jourdain and Henri Sauvage. Opening a hotel in the home city of parent company LVMH is a major milestone for Cheval Blanc, which has elegant hotels and resorts in Courchevel, St. Barth, St. Tropez and the Maldives.
