10 years after opening their first restaurant in Notting Hill, London, back in 2012, the duo behind hit Greek eaterie Mazi - restaurateur Christina Mouratoglou and entrepreneur Adrien Carré - are bringing it to Abu Dhabi. Mazi, meaning ‘together’ in Greek, has thrown open its doors at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, bringing its beautiful, playful, fine-casual food to the peaceful shores of the Gulf.
The space itself is all light and breezy, with rattan furnishings, marble tabletops, mosaic tiles and an intimate courtyard peppered with greenery, olive trees and a wood and fire grill. As for the food, it twists tradition by bringing in innovative modern flavours, textures and techniques, taking diners on a culinary voyage through the colours and culture of the Mediterranean.
Naturally, you’ll find all the favourites, such as tzatziki, grilled calamari and kavourosalata, but with more interpretative dishes, such as feta tempura, shredded lamb shoulder tacos and sea bass tartare. To wash it all down, bespoke drinks inspired by Greece and infused with fruits and herbs sourced from different regions across the Grecian landscape. The perfect summer escape on a plate!
