If there’s one item of luggage that serious travellers can’t do without, it’s a good book. Whether it’s a novel set in the place you’re visiting, a biography about one of its famous residents or a non-fiction book about the local architecture, history or design, a good book can shine new light on a place, revealing secrets you might not find in the guidebook.
In tribute to the written word, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has launched the Kimpton Book Club, a collection of curated reading lists dedicated to some of the destinations where its hotels are located: Edinburgh, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Barcelona in Europe, and Bali, Bangkok and Tokyo in Asia.
Readers can explore the streets of Paris in the company of Ernest Hemingway or Emile Zola courtesy of Kimpton St Honore; fly away to London with Virginia Woolf and W.B. Yeats thanks to the team at Kimpton Fitzroy London; or uncover Edinburgh’s secrets with Ian Rankin and David Nicholls via Kimpton Charlotte Street Hotel, to name a few. Each of the lists are available on the Kimpton website, and readers are invited to use the hashtag #kimptonbookclub when sharing their literary adventures on social media.
