The Orient Express brand has a long-held reputation for intrepid adventure, stellar service and stylish railway excursions. Indeed, with blockbuster movies and TV shows cropping up in recent years, it’s become something of a cultural icon. But it doesn’t look like its resting on its laurels.
Now looking to bolster its reputation with the opening of its first permanent luxury accommodation, the Orient Express Hotel is slated for a late 2019 opening in Bangkok – a move that promises to reinvent the brand for the future while maintaining all of its history, charm and adventurous spirit.
“Orient Express has always acted as a passport between worlds and a trip on these legendary trains was historical, touristic and cinematic with an inimitable experience,” said Sebastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of AccorHotels.
The hotel is located in the capital’s landmark King Power MahaNakhon Building and will feature 154 rooms, nine suites and two penthouses, as well as an entire floor devoted to wellness with an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and signature Orient Express Spa by Guerlain. Guests will also be given full access to the hotel’s observation deck and bar.
For fine diners, signature restaurants will include Mott 32, offering contemporary Cantonese cuisine, and Mahanathi by David Thompson, helmed by the award-winning chef himself; renowned for his culinary skill and impeccable Thai cuisine.
The hotel will open exactly 136 years since the Orient Express took its maiden voyage from Paris.
