DESIGNS ON HELSINKI
Helsinki Design Week: Helsinki, Finland – September 1-11
During the biggest design festival in the Nordic countries, the city of Helsinki sets the stage for a week of some 200 events from PechaKucha Night to Architecture Day, held in museums, markets and secret venues throughout the city. Among the highlights are Design Market, held in the Merikaapelihalli space at the Cable Factory and HDW Children’s Weekend where little designers can participate in cute workshops such as “Build your own LEGO® Home”. However, the Sauna Talks sound the most intriguing, with The City of Helsinki inviting citizens to five saunas to disrobe, bathe and discuss (or let off some steam) five “hot” topics.
ART LOVERS UNITE
The Biennale des Antiquaires: Grand Palais, Paris – September 10-18
“For art lovers from across the world the Biennale des Antiquaires has been a must-attend event for more than half a century and quintessentially representative of the French art de vivre. September 2016 will mark a turning point in the Biennale's history, and it will become an annual event beginning in 2017, without leaving behind what makes it so exceptional. For the first time, the selection of the exhibitors is made by an international committee of fifteen members, including members of the board of the SNA, curators, art historians and collectors. The "Biennial Commitee" of the 28th Biennale des Antiquaires is chaired by Henri Loyrette.”
