Regata Storica
Venice, Italy
Sept 3-6
Translating to “historical regatta”, spectators at this colourful rowing event will get an eyeful of 16th-century Venetian style as elaborate, Renaissance-inspired gondolas helmed by costumed gondoliers make their stately way down Venice’s bustling Grand Canal, with the Doge, his wife and Venetian officials in tow – also in period costume, of course. The highlight of the event is the Campioni su Gondolini regatta, featuring sporty gondolas rowed by two oarsmen in a race to the finish – or machina – against dozens.

From supercars to rare classics and even motorcycles, it’s the can’t-miss event for motoring enthusiasts this month.
