Groove on the grass at Paris Jazz Festival
Paris, France
Grab a picnic blanket and follow jazz-loving Parisians to the city’s beautiful Parc Floral for the annual Paris Jazz Festival. Attracting more than 110,000 visitors last year, the cherished summertime event promises big names and emerging talents with live concerts paying homage to French jazz and global sounds. Rocking the art world at Art Basel
Basel, Switzerland
Widely regarded as the pinnacle event on the global art circuit, Art Basel brings together the world’s finest contemporary art and the 47th edition is tipped to be as compelling as ever with some 2,500 artists exhibiting thought-provoking (and often controversial) works. Among them, 82-year-old American performance artist Alison Knowles will be rallying fair visitors to help prepare her seminal Make A Salad (1962) – a colossal salad prepared on a tarp and served to spectators – while Cairo-based Maxa Zoller will curate the programme for the second year running, which includes the highly anticipated premiere of Where is Rocky II?, a documentary by artist and filmmaker Pierre Bismuth (the co-writer of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) which details his decade-long hunt for a fake rock left in the Mojave desert by artist Ed Ruscha.
