The Opera House
The Sydney Opera House is a haven of culture, music, and iconic views. Nothing enhances its features more than a show of spectacular lights put on by the creative innovators at Vivid Sydney. The events include live performances inside the Opera House, and the 'Lighting of the Sails' to kick off the event. Before the show starts and the sun sets on the Sydney Harbour, toast to an evening al freco by dining on ice-cold oysters and bubbly at Opera Bar.
Go Beyond the Wharf
Take to the sea and enjoy the lights on a Harbour Tour with Beyond The Wharf. Combined with experiencing the spectacle from a different perspective, there’s a soundtrack to accompany the views. With music blasting, lights shining, and fresh salt water spritzing the air, it’s sure to be a sensory experience difficult to match. Experience the show afloat from June 1-4.
Martin Place
This business and shopping district will witness an array of media projects and Intel technology projected onto its historic buildings. At Martin Place expect to be surprised, as each night they will tap a new artist to feature throughout Vivid Sydney. The fantastic light show will only enhance the architecture where two new forms of art will meet to present something otherworldly. Vivid Sydney at Martin Place runs from 6pm – Midnight.
The Rocks
Dubbed the “birthplace of Sydney” where cosy cafés mingle with urban shops, the itinerary of night-lights is not to be missed on these cobble-stoned streets. Interactive night walks by BeatDice will feature a DJ and cubes that groove and move. Another Intel instillation will use a Galileo board to illustrate how our brains work via neurons and synapses. The history of Australia will once again be highlighted by breakthrough technology.
Central Park
A newcomer to the collection of unique venues at Vivid Sydney, Central Park is home to exciting events beyond the light show: a silent disco plus a pop-up bar by Newton Hotel will be featured, surrounding the light installations that show animated street art and an original music score. Before the dark falls, marvel at the world's tallest vertical garden by botanist Patrick Blanc and architect Jean Nouvel.
