It’s estimated that more than 70 million people have seen Les Miserables, but the production has never been slated for the GCC region – until now. The world’s longest running theatre production will inaugurate Dubai Opera from November 10-24 having previously running in 44 other countries in at least 22 languages.
Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s production of the legendary musical has broken various box office records around the world, winning more than 100 major awards and recent;y inspired filmmakers to make a movie version which won three Oscars, three Golden Globes and four BAFTA awards. The story is essentially a tribute to the survival of the human spirit and the score includes beloved songs such as “I dreamed a dream”.
“Les Miserables is a musical phenomenon, I could not have wished for a more important title to be the very first to be staged at Dubai Opera,” said Jasper Hope, Chief Executive at Dubai Opera. “Sir Cameron Mackintosh is giving residents and visitors alike a fantastic opportunity to see his production of the world’s longest running musical here in Dubai itself and I, for one, can’t wait for November.”
