EDITOR'S LETTER:

The Maldives. There are few places in the world that deserve to be labelled paradise more than this ravishing island getaway and along with visiting one of the newest luxury island resorts: the St. Regis Vommuli Resort, Maldives, in the gorgeously remote Dhaalu Atoll, the April issue features a collection of glamorous and enticing Maldivian escapes to soak in the sun, scuba dive and surf, or unplug from life on a restorative break with some quality family time. Closer to home, but with a strikingly Maldivian-style beach, we also spend a weekend at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, enjoying some downtime and soft exploration of what is surely the Gulf’s most laidback country, before travelling to Bangkok to take a Thai-style path to wellness. There’s more island pleasures in the issue with features on Nevis in the Caribbean, endowed with blissfully empty beaches and beautifully-restored plantation hotels, and the Balearic island of Mallorca, where the delectable cuisine is impossible to resist, the waters are absurdly clear and the pace of life is languid, from the charming city of Palma de Mallorca to the quiet north east coast.

On the gourmet front, we navigate the best places to dine in Huelva, this year’s Capital of Gastronomy in Spain, talk to Michelin-starred chef Umberto Bombana about his new Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award and learn the intricacies behind mezcal, Mexico’s “other” agave-based spirit. Also in the magazine, we become better acquainted with the Lamborghini Huracán family on an epic road trip from the mountains of Oman to the Dubai desert.
