EDITOR'S LETTER:

We all have very different opinions on the importance of Valentine’s Day but it’s one of the most unavoidable dates on the zeitgeist. That’s why we’ve included 12 pages of Romantic Escapes (page 46) where we catalogue some amorous opportunities far and wide. From hideaways in Hawaii to a classic stay in Rome, there should be plenty of travel inspiration for all manner of well-heeled couples. Should you still be searching, our other key travel features should provide alternative ideas.

Elsewhere, one of our regular contributors ventured to Vienna (page 58) for colder climes and plenty of culture. Most of our romantic itineraries tend to be targeted at tropical resorts but Sarah Freeman discovered artisanal retail and five-star havens in the Austrian capital. And for those seeking a little more adventure, we also look at what Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park has to offer (page 66) – and it was truly wild in the best possible way.

We do hope you enjoy the issue, and if you’re not feeling the love right now, why not book a ticket for a solo adventure?
