Qatar Airways will send 13 new A380-800 aircraft soaring in early June. The delivery comes just after the airline moves to Hamad International Airport later on this month.
“This is indeed an exciting year and a new chapter for Qatar Airways as we will move our entire hub operations to Hamad International Airport on May 27,” said Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways.
“We also eagerly await the delivery of the world’s largest passenger jet and have no doubts that our new A380s will play a key role in our strategic expansion plans, and will help expand the onboard capacity – in the full comfort and luxury that our passengers expect,” he added.
Qatar Airways is also introducing a daily, all premium Business Class service from Doha to London. The new service is claimed to be the first of its kind in the Middle East and will begin from May 15, with an Airbus A319 aircraft fitted with an all Business Class, single aisle offering 40 seats.
The flag carrier unveiled its First Class suites back in March. Each suite will contain just eight seats, which unsurprisingly double up as beds - the world’s largest and widest on a commercial service.
Each seat will have a 90-inch pitch and will lay fully flat and a “dining for two” option will allow passengers to sit opposite one another during meal times. In-flight entertainment screens will also be among the largest on any airline, at 26-inches.
