In partnership with luxury jeweller Bucherer, The Charles Hotel in Munich is offering one lucky guest at its glitzy New Year’s Eve party the chance to start 2015 in style – by walking away with a flawless 0.5-carat diamond worth EUR 2,500 (US $3,170).
As part of the Night of the Diamond evening, the five-star hotel will hide the precious stone at the bottom of one attendee’s champagne flute, while all other guests will receive identical crystal copies. The lucky winner won’t be aware they have been nursing the pricey gem until an expert jeweller makes his way through the crowd later in the evening, grading each stone as he goes.
Presidential Suite Monforte
At EUR 395 (US $500) per person, the New Year’s celebration will take place in the Rocco Forte-owned hotel’s Restaurant Davvero, which will serve an eight-course meal to all attendees after the authentic diamond has been discovered at the pre-dinner ‘Diamond Champagne Reception’.
If you like the sound of the evening but can’t make it on December 31, the hotel also offers a year-round Private Night of the Diamond experience, during which you and your guests will get exclusive use of the Presidential Suite Monforte.
Costing EUR 20,000 (US $25,400) for up to 12 guests, the private night will see head chef Giovanni Russo whip up a lavish eight-course meal to be served in-room, and, of course, one attendee will walk away with that all-important 0.5-carat diamond.
