We’ve heard of washing the dishes to pay for your meal, but running the hotel? Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, a veteran five-star hotel in the north of the UAE, has rolled out “Little Hoteliers” – a half-day activity that allows your young ones to get a taste of hotel life… as an employee, not a guest.
Kids can choose from a variety of roles, including concierge, sous chef, front office and engineer, each receiving a personalised uniform and nametag. The program commences with an orientation session before the working shift begins and breaks for lunch in the canteen alongside the full-time Waldorf Astoria team. Then after the shift ends the activity ends with interviews and an awards ceremony to honour their hard work.
“Designed to empower and inspire, this project gives the youngest generation a chance to challenge themselves and think about the career they may pursue in the future,” said Alan Stocker, the hotel’s general manager. “We invite children to explore the rewarding world of hospitality and work together as a team with a practical learning experience.”
Little Hoteliers is suitable for kids aged 8-13 and costs approximately $55 per child. For more: rasalkhaimah.info@waldorfastoria.com
