An exciting and lofty new property is in the works at 250 Spencer Street, Melbourne. It looks like there’s also something significant about that number - the upcoming Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne will offer 250 rooms when opens as the tallest hotel in Australia.
The property, located between levels 64 and 77 of the building, will be the centrepiece of an urban mixed-use project in the central business district, which will also include apartments and retail destinations.
Construction will begin next year, adding to the UNESCO City of Literature’s eclectic scene. The hotel company states in its announcement that Melbourne is also home to a score of other arts festivals, indicating the hotel could have an art-filled, creative vibe. The city currently plays host to the Festival for International Arts, the International Comedy Festival, Fringe Festival, Food and Wine Festival and the Indigenous Arts Festival.
“We are honoured to partner once again with Fast Consortium on a second, spectacular project in Australia,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton. “We look forward to welcoming Ritz-Carlton guests from around the world to a sensational high-rise hotel in Melbourne, a rich and intriguing city.”
