Some hotels offer a sense of place while others evoke a gallery-esque space, with carefully curated works of art adorning the walls. The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, however, has made strides to combine the two – adding a dose of history to boot.
The hotel has announced it is entering a new partnership with Dubai’s Miraj Art Centre, a gallery and exhibition space, which commemorates 13 centuries of Arabian culture and craftsmanship.
Guests who book a stay in a suite or Club Level room will be offered an educational, guided tour of the collections, along with complimentary return transportation to the centre, located in Dubai’s Jumeirah district.
The collections range from ‘Beauty and Divinity’; a decorative range of artefacts adorned with calligraphy, ‘Weaver of Dreams’; an assortment of Persian rugs dating back to the 16th Century, depicting legendary and historic imagery; and ‘Touched with Gold’, a striking collection of papier-mâché pieces, heralding from the Himalayas, richly lacquered with gold, gilded, and encrusted with precious stones.
DIFC’s art scene has burgeoned in recent years, now comprising 10 international galleries. The hotel itself already boasts more than 130 pieces of art, which have been core to its DNA since opening in January 2011.
“Art and craftsmanship is an integral part of the experience at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC; from our own expanding art collection, to the craftsmanship of our talented culinary teams, we are proud to engage our guests on a level over and above a traditional hotel stay,” Lothar Quarz, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC.
“Our new partnership with Miraj Art Center beautifully complements our existing offering of mostly contemporary art pieces, by providing access to collections steeped in history, as well as an additional insight into the Arabian culture.”
