Accor group announced today that it has partnered with prominent Jeddah-based firm, Skonmas Trading Company, to take over and manage an existing resort in the Kingdom’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, with Shaden Resort Al Ula, an MGallery Experience (Accor’s boutique experience-led brand), set to make history with the first property operated by an international company in this remarkable location when it opens its doors.
Accor’s takeover marks a major milestone in the group’s Saudi expansion strategy, and showcases the diversity of hospitality and lifestyle experiences it has to offer to the Kingdom in support of Vision 2030, which aims to develop areas of outstanding heritage, culture and natural beauty, such as Al Ula.
A brand defined by its unique guest experiences, combined with local essence and authentic storytelling, MGallery’s tent-like resort will offer a range of eco-tourism, adventure, wellness and cultural activities, aiming to enrich and inspire its guests.
“This represents a one-of-a-kind takeover opportunity for Accor and signals our commitment to the responsible and sustainable development of Al Ula in line with Vision 2030 and its ambitions for transforming this spectacular UNESCO-listed site into a global tourism destination of distinction,” says Mark Willis, CEO, Accor Middle East & Africa.
The transformation of the property to MGallery will be completed by November this year, with further modifications in line with MGallery’s standards taking place over the next 12 months, with a view to re-launch the property as ‘Shaden Resort Al Ula, an MGallery Experience’ in November 2020.
