Just off the coast of Antigua, Jumby Bay Island is a must-visit retreat for discerning travellers who really want to escape it all; a 300-acre idyll surrounded by powder soft white beaches and a ring of coral reef that make its waters some of the best in the Caribbean for snorkellers.
The Oetker Collection-managed resort has reopened for the new season with a collection of 28 beautifully reimagined suites, designed to blur the lines between inside and out. Design firm Studio IDC has created a fresh new look for the 16 Beachside Suites, 10 Pool Suites and the two exceptional Estate Suites, which feature a fresh colour palette inspired by the island’s natural setting: think tropical foliage, blush sunsets and cool ocean blues.
There are no roads on Jumby Bay, just 4.5 miles of protected beaches and a winding network of hiking and bicycle trails, as well as a handful of local residents and a collection of indigenous wildlife whose preservation is a top priority. Endangered hawksbill turtles, white egret and Persian black-headed sheep all make their home on the island, and numerous conservation activities including rainwater collection, a native plant nursery, sun-powered water heating and a hawksbill turtle rehabilitation programme strive to keep environmental and ecological impact at a minimum. All-inclusive rates in a new Beachside Suite start from $1,895 per night (plus 23 per cent tax).
