A perfect combination of vintage design, advanced technicality and altruistic style, wear Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms Barakuda on your wrist and make a pledge to help safeguard the future.
Created in support of the Monaco Association Against Muscular Dystrophy (AMM), and on sale at Dubai's Only Watch charity auction on October 2-3, this unique timepiece reiterates the French haute horologist's investment in a 'style meets substance' ethos.
Launched in 1953, the Fifty Fathoms watch was the very first diving watch, quickly incorporated by several marine corps and military elite as part of its standard-issue gear. Later on, a civilian model was launched in Germany with a more distinctive every-day style, notably the use of two-tone rectangular hour-markers, white-painted fluorescent hands and a highly-visible date display at 3 o'clock.
Now, created especially for Only Watch, the new Fifty Fathoms Barakuda piece reinterprets the aesthetic codes of the late 1960s, whilst harnessing Blancpain's technical innovations and expertise. Vintage attributes including a black dial punctuated by broad white hour-markers in Super-LumiNova with blue luminescence and a second-hand trimmed in light blue are married with contemporary updates including its emblematic unidirectional bezel with light blue graduation, a 40mm-steel case water resistant to 300 meters, and the 1151 self-winding movement equipped with two barrels.
If it's time to upgrade your wrist-wear, this is one way to wear your heart on your sleeve.
