It might not look a day older than 149, but The Great White North is braced to celebrate 150 years since the confederation of Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in 1867. There’s a huge amount of buzz surrounding “#Canada150” with a wide range of festivals, projects and activities taking place across the vast nation for its sesquicentennial.
None, however, are as lavish as the “Après in the Air” package from Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Air Canada. The special travel itinerary includes a round trip for 58 people on Air Canada’s all Business Class private charter service, Jetz, and stays at a trio of spectacular hotels; Fairmont Château Laurier, Fairmont Le Château Montebello and Fairmont Tremblant.
The adventure begins as soon as you embark, on a private jet that’s been fully reimagined as a cosy Fairmont-inspired ski chalet, for the ultimate après-ski experience at 30,000 feet – but the experience continues beyond touchdown. Each five-star Fairmont has a roster of wintry activities and local experiences, from dogsledding, ice-skating and snowmobiling to ice fishing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, skiing, and curling.
Perhaps they want you to work up an appetite for some inspired cuisine from Canadian chefs Louis Simard, Tim Wasylko, and Éric Beaupré, featured respectively at each stop on the way. There’s also plenty of pampering, with a chance to luxuriate with a spa treatments at the world’s largest log cabin at Le Château Montebello.
Available until December 31, 2017, the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Air Canada “Après in the Air” package is priced from C$300,000 (US$228,353); www.fairmont.com/americas/apres-in-the-air
