Where better to debut a new hospitality brand than the Maldives: a destination synonymous with barefoot hideaways and pristine tropical islands, where well-heeled travellers have the time and space to slow down and reconnect with themselves and their families. When it opens later this year, Patina Maldives will be the first outpost of Patina Hotels & Resorts, a new concept from Capella Hotel Group aimed at a new generation of “curious and conscious” consumers, according to Capella CEO Nicholas Clayton.
Situated in the North Male Atoll, Patina Maldives is the vision of Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan of Studio Mk27, who shot to fame with his work on Fasano Hotel in São Paulo in 2003 and has since created an enviable collection of striking hotels and private homes around the world. The resort will be home to 90 beach and overwater villas from one- to three bedrooms, in addition to 20 Fari Studios.
Patina Maldives will be one of three hideaways that make up Fari Islands, an über-luxury archipelago imagined by Singapore’s Pontiac Land Group that will also home to Capella and Ritz-Carlton resorts in addition to a marina, beach club, boutique shopping and a selection of world class dining venues. Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, Capella Maldives will feature 64 villas and mansions with interiors by Hong Kong-based designer André Fu, while The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, will feature 100 one- to three-bedroom villas designed by Kerry Hill Architects, with private pools and covered sundecks.
Fifty minutes from Malé by speedboat, Patina Maldives will be the first member of the Patina family, with other resorts in Ubud and Sanya to follow.
