Situated in the southern reaches of the Maldivian archipelago, Raffles Maldives Meradhoo is the quintessential island idyll, promising an array of unforgettable Indian Ocean experiences. The latest addition to the island hideaway is the Overwater Island Experience, a stilted collection of 16 overwater villas and residences, alongside a Peruvian-Japanese restaurant and a sunset-facing pool bar, all just a short boat ride from the main island. Guests in the new accommodation can expect to be woken to the sound of gently lapping waves and uninterrupted Indian Ocean views, with a choice of one- and two-bedroom villas and residences ranging from 230-300 sqm.
Guests will have access to the services of a marine butler, who will guide snorkelling trips around the island’s two house reefs and help identify the colourful residents of Gaafu Alifu, and full access to the main island resort’s dining options: beachfront barbecue restaurant, The Firepit, all-day dining at Thari, and the iconic Long Bar – a feature at all 14 Raffles properties around the world – where guests can try a local take on the legendary Singapore Sling.
At new overwater fine dining restaurant Yuzu, Peruvian chef Anibal Torres prepares Nikkei fare using sustainably sourced local seafood, and fusion cocktails with South American and Japanese influences are shaken and stirred at pool bar Yapa. The collection of envy-inducing villas will be completed next year with the Raffles Royal Residence, an ultra-exclusive three-bedroom hideaway with its own infinity pool, nestled among the palms on the main island.
