There is a charming elegance about place names in the western US. Few are as evocative as Lone Mountain, the solitary peak that towers above the Montana landscape. Views of the mighty monolith will be a constant companion for guests at One&Only Moonlight Basin, an ultra-luxury resort and collection of private homes at the foot of the mountain.
Designed by award-winning architectural firm Olson Kundig, One&Only Moonlight Basin is part of an 8,000-acre mountain community envisioned by the Lone Mountain Land Company, which owns the rights to property development around the Big Sky region of Montana. When complete in 2024, the development will be home to 73 guestrooms and 19 secluded villas dotted across the landscape, each featuring local art and roaring log fires, as well as 62 One&Only Private Homes, each set on a sprawling plot of private wilderness.
Giving guests and owners access to nature and the ability to connect to the outdoors has informed much of the resort’s design. Floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious outdoor living spaces and indoor-outdoor restaurants mean the natural surroundings will play a prominent role in the guest experience, and a separate ski lodge at the Big Sky resort area will provide exclusive access to its 5,800 acres of slopes, golf courses and hiking and biking trails.
Around an hour’s drive from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and Yellowstone National Park, the resort will be a gateway to adventure but also a destination in its own right. Guests will have access to untapped outdoor activities - hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fly fishing, snowshoeing, Alpine and Nordic skiing, dogsledding and snowmobiling, to name a few - as well as a Chenot Spa, kids club and extensive events facilities.
