Benetti Vica
Benetti braves new waters in this vessel that’s their first build to use two different techniques. “The innovative hybrid construction of VICA’s fibreglass hull along with an aluminium superstructure is unique in the world,” says Fabio Ermetto, CCO of Benetti. And with comfortable sailing a given with a vessel of Benetti’s pedigree, it’s the style, amenities and unique features that doubly ensure VICA stands out.
Made for a decadent cruise around the Mediterranean, full-height windows let the sun fill the interiors with natural light while giving the exterior a sleek streamlined look. Setting itself apart from other superyachts in the marina are unique features such as a hull with three hatches: one for a tender, another acting as a bathing platform and a third that opens into the lower deck, allowing air and light to stream in.
The owner’s suite comes with its own unique touch in the form of a private terrace with a gangway that leads directly to the sea’s tempting azure water. Ample cabins in rich cherry wood – six, including the owner’s suite, for guests and a separate six cabins for 12 crew – provide plenty of space for privacy and comfort.
But it’s the main salon with a grand piano, karaoke, American-style corner bar; dining room with a 12-person oval dining table; and show-stopping open-air spaces with divans, chaises longues, a Jacuzzi and a sun deck with – yes – a second Jacuzzi and bar, that are likely to be where most of your time is spent, taking in Santorini’s epic caldera views or hosting an opulent private party off the shores of Mykonos.
Mub Design Calibre 102M
Bond may get the ladies but it’s his foes that get the exotic, lust-worthy, over-the-top lairs that make us wonder if sometimes, just sometimes, evil villainy may be worth the ill-gotten gains. Case in point: concept yacht Calibre 102M, a stealthy black trimaran superyacht of cinematic proportions. With an exterior fittingly inspired by the tapered shape of a bullet, the hull is firmly based in reality, having taken inspiration from the zippy new-generation Austal Hull 270 trimaran, which serves as a high-speed ferry.
Handling swells of five metres or more with ease and cranking out speeds up to 39 knots thanks to three MTU 20V 800 engines, you’ll be able to stage a getaway that’s not only speedy, but incredibly luxurious. Sprawling sun decks, salons and spacious cabins (the owner’s suite is an impressive 200 sqm) fit up to 14 guests while an ample crew of 17 can be accommodated to ensure none of the jet-setting VIPs on board will ever need to lift a finger. And, for good or evil, what superyacht would be complete without decadent extras like a helicopter pad, gym, spa and sports areas, a Jacuzzi, swimming pools (yes, plural), nightclub, a 140-sqm beach club with plenty of big-kid toys (sea sled, Jet Ski and Jetlev Flyer) and – because why not? – a submarine.
Codecasa Gazzella
Pining for some vintage glamour in your next yacht, but would prefer to keep a firm grasp on modern comforts? Codecasa has just launched the newest addition in their “Vintage Series”, the 50-m Gazzella. Simple white exteriors and traditional lines lead to classic interiors of rich mahogany, opulent marble and onyx floors and plush decorative carpeting. Red and gold tones and gilded details set a regal theme in the salon, which is furnished with oversized sofas, armchairs and a 65-in TV. Spread over four decks – connected by a four-person lift – the rest of the vessel sets up an exceptional superyacht that pays homage to sailing’s romantic past while utilising state-of-the-art technology from the navigation room to entertainment centres.
Guests on board will find a dining room with a rectangular mahogany and maple table that can seat up to 12 guests; a main staircase connecting the bridge deck to the guests’ area elegantly designed with gold leaf and mother-of-pearl; an owner’s cabin fit for the most discerning modern-day yachtsman with a private office and two bathrooms decorated with honey onyx and floral mosaics; and outdoor decks featuring a marble bar, al fresco dining and a large sunbathing area with a Jacuzzi. The Gazzella is a classic case of old world meeting new and resulting in the ultimate refined atmosphere in which to tour the seven seas.
