A glass of auld bubbly never goes amiss at an art exhibition, and this November aesthetes of all tastes will have a chance to sample Veuve Clicquot’s pop-up concept at Solaire Lounge at Downtown Design, which runs from November 8-11.
Entitled Cellar in the Sea project, guests can channel their inner Jacques Cousteau and dive to the depths of the ocean to learn the story of the discovery of 47 Veuve Clicquot bottles from a 19th-century shipwreck in the Baltic Sea.
Hitting the waves on November 8, the four-day event will also offer guests time for a little retail therapy, as there will be stalls selling different brands and designers. And should you get puckish, Solaire Lounge has teamed up with One Life Kitchen & Café to serve small bites like compressed watermelon and quinoa, smoked chicken tacos, and beef carpaccio – alongside a glass of Veuve Clicquot, of course!
But, the action isn’t just saved for the indoors… There’s an outdoor sun terrace that has been designed like a coastal town in the South of France, where you can try your hand at pétanque, a sand-based version of boules, or just soak up the views of Dubai Creek and Burj Khalifa whilst nibbling on some Dibba Bay oysters from the Oyster Bar.
“The discovery of these remarkably preserved 19th-century Veuve Clicquot bottles from the Baltic Sea is a testament to the enduring legacy of our Champagne,” says Jean-Marc Gallot, CEO of Veuve Clicquot. “This extraordinary find has not only fascinated us but also provided the muse for this year’s Solaire Lounge. By blending history, innovation, and the natural world, we aim to transport our guests into the depths of the ocean and the heart of nature.”
