Two giants of the culinary world will team up at City Social this Friday (23rd May) as Jason Atherton and Paco Pérez come together for an exclusive six-course dinner.
A part of the fourth instalment of the Gault&Millau Master Series held in partnership with The Luminary Set, guests can expect a theatrical yet thoughtful gastronomic experience that spotlights the elemental inspirations of fire and water.
The evening will begin with Pérez’s caviar velvet and conclude with Atherton’s bold miso and sesame dessert. In between, diners will enjoy four beautifully plated courses, including lobster raviolo with smoked hay butter and gundagai lamb with burnt leek from Atherton, and Pérez’s Mediterranean seabed sea bass and an all-cacao pre-dessert made with pacari chocolate.
Each dish is an expression of the chefs’ individual stories and will be served alongside a curated grape pairing.
Speaking ahead of the event, Atherton who also helms Row on 45 in the city, said: “It’s always such an honour to cook in Dubai, a city that’s full of energy and a true passion for incredible food. This is my second time being part of the Gault&Millau Masters Series, and I’m thrilled to be back for another amazing evening at City Social.
“Working with Chef Paco Pérez has been such a special experience, it’s like two minds coming together to celebrate the art, culture and creativity behind what we do. We’ve created a menu that blends fire and water, two elements that really capture our unique styles, and the result is something both dramatic and deeply personal. This isn’t just a dinner, it’s a heartfelt conversation between two culinary worlds.”
Pérez, who is behind the famed concept of Enoteca in Barcelona, said: “It is truly an honour to be part of this landmark collaboration with The Luminary Set and Gault&Millau. Dubai, with its vibrant blend of cultures and constant appetite for innovation, always offers the perfect canvas to create something truly unique. The city’s dynamic culinary scene is shaped by its diversity, allowing chefs like myself to experiment, adapt and surprise.
“Collaborating with Jason Atherton is a special opportunity. It is a meeting of minds and styles as we aim to bring a piece of our Mar d'Amunt philosophy to City Social. Our aim is for this to be much more than just a showcase of exquisite ingredients, becoming a chance to share our way of life with gourmands who truly appreciate the intricate art of fine dining.”
At the heart of this collaboration lies The Luminary Set, a curated collection of Marriott International’s most innovative culinary concepts across the Middle East and Europe. Celebrating chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists whose artistry has pushed boundaries, the collection has more than 40 standout venues across the region, including 13 in the UAE.
Nicolas Marzioni, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Marriott International, EMEA, added; "The Luminary Set was created to connect epicureans through unforgettable culinary moments, and this collaboration between two of our most visionary chefs embodies that spirit at its highest level. By uniting two exceptional talents, Paco Pérez and Jason Atherton, each a luminary in his own right, we’re delivering an exclusive experience that reflects the very essence of our collection: extraordinary talent, bold creativity and cultural synergy.
“Hosting this event in Dubai, an international hub with a flourishing culinary scene, allows us to honour the Gault&Millau legacy while continuing to raise the bar. This will truly be an exciting reminder of what is possible when great chefs, inspired venues and global tastemakers come together with a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of culinary imagination."
