One of our happiest finds this season is Daughter and Dad Coffee, a nature-inspired, plant-based café at the Equestrian Centre, Meliá Desert Palm. You can sip some of the city’s best coffee – thanks to its partnership with Orbis Coffee – feast on creamy garlic mushrooms on toast, bagel burgers, and freshly-baked banana bread alongside the bougainvillea-wrapped stables, with just horses, cats, peace and palm trees for company.
Run by Lia, and set up by herself and her dad, the café was born out of a shared passion for the planet, plant-based food and a really good cup of coffee. The menu spans both vegetarian and vegan cuisine, from breakfast through to brunch and late afternoon replenishings, all washed down by a cup of locally-sourced coffee and speciality teas.
The Pulled Jackfruit Sando, with basil pesto, is fantastic, as is the Sould Bowl that is like a rainbow on a plate. Don't miss the banana bread, Smores waffles and Mimie's Biscoff Bar - all made in-house. Few places in Dubai offer this much peace and serenity with the good food to match. So this really is a little oasis of culinary calm...
