On track for a 2026 opening, the Six Senses Grand Bahama will be a resort village with social and environmental responsibility at its heart. Designed by architects 3XN, the property will comprise of 45 waterfront and canal villas sitting amidst azure waters and enjoying beach frontage. In keeping with the brand’s philosophy of minimising on-site impact, uniquely designed units will be modular and prefabricated. Speaking about this innovative approach, 3XN’s founder Kim Herforth Nielson said, “This is a great opportunity to investigate new construction methods and define a specific and new approach to sustainability in The Bahamas.” Plans are already afoot for a signature restaurant, beach venue, boathouse, and pool bar with future development offering direct access to a new marina. The resort village will host an Experience Centre along with artist studios, relaxed meeting spaces, a fitness centre, and Six Senses Spa. In addition to the Earth Lab, there will also be a Marine Research and Dive Centre focused on coastal resiliency, native plantings, and land restoration. Additional land and sea areas will be designated as preserves, further enhancing the local biosphere. The proximity by plane or boat from Miami or Fort Lauderdale makes Grand Bahama the ideal gateway to The Bahamas, so for those seeking a home-away-from-home near the cosmopolitan and family-friendly capitol, Freeport, Six Senses will offer 20 branded residences, designed by world-renowned architect Olson Kundig.
