Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Sofitel this year, Sofitel New York is embarking on a comprehensive refurbishment project. All facets of the hotel, including the 398 rooms and suites, the Presidential Suite, the One Bedroom and Terrace Suites and the public areas will be transformed. The hotel’s current design blends Parisian Art Deco with 1940s Manhattan glamour, embracing this spirit, designers HBA San Francisco who are renowned for narrative-driven spaces evoking emotion, are leading the redesign.

Patterns derived from Art Deco and Art Moderne motifs, along with French fashion influences, will be combined with intricate detailing and luxurious materials on a colour palette of black, grey, white and gold. Striking works of art embodying New York’s artistic dynamism will add vibrant energy to the spaces. The pièce de résistance is a custom sculptural lighting installation inspired by the graceful movement of a ballerina’s tutu, which sits at the centre of the grand staircase. Work on the property will commence in late 2024 with the completion of the public areas scheduled for 2025. The refurbishment of Sofitel New York is part of an ambitious global project to renew the Sofitel brand.
