Perhaps the biggest character in haute couture, Karl Lagerfeld has never shied from the spotlight. The designer’s forte for fashion, creative marketing stunts and unique dress sense have made him a household name – quickly skyrocketing the German creative to the very top of the designer hierarchy. And, with news of his very own Barbie in the pipeline, that’s where he looks set to stay.
Created as part of Mattel’s Barbie Collector series, Barbie Lagerfeld will take inspiration from the designer’s signature style, wearing a tailored black jacket, white high-collared men’s shirt with French cuffs and black satin cravat finished off with fitted black jeans featuring the iconic all-over head print. Other recognisable accessories include fingerless gloves, black ankle boots and a black leather purse.
Priced at around US $200, the limited edition Platinum-label Barbie will go on sale during Paris Fashion Week through select KARL LAGERFELD stores, TheBarbieCollection.com, net-a-porter.com and Colette in Paris. Only 999 units will be available to buy from September 29, 2014.
