Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa’s new Villingili Golf Course will cover 7.5 hectares of tropical island when it opens on March 27, much to the delight of golfers and visitors who want more from their holiday than sun bathing and spa treatments.
Rene D. Egle, general manager of Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives said, “We are excited to offer a new experience to the Maldives traveller.
"Apart from our other recreational options, the Villingili Golf Course will add a new and unique activity for our guests – a game of golf amid expansive views of the Indian Ocean and the tropical landscape."
The course has been built on previously uncultivated land at the southern end of Villingili island, and offers exceptional views of the Indian Ocean. Architects have taken care to preserve the natural landscape, ensuring local plants and trees have been protected and used to enhance the beauty of the course’s surroundings.
The par three course is aimed at both seasoned and beginner players and is being pitched as a ‘fun’ course. The course will feature a new club house and bar, along with a pro shop where visitors will be able to purchase or rent equipment.
Villingili Golf Course will be reserved for the exclusive use of the resort’s guests.
OFFER: The introductory green fee of US$80 per adult includes a golf set, golf balls and unlimited rounds per day. Children play free on golf activities scheduled by Cool Zone, the children's club at the resort.
