Courchevel 1850
This ski resort has it all; world class shopping, more Michelin starred restaurants than you can shake a ski pole at and incredible five-star hotels and chalets.
Stay
Chalet Hermine is a beautiful chalet in a superb location on ‘Millionaires Row’, a secluded private road much sought after by all who visit this resort. The chalet sleeps 12 and has an amazing drawing room with crackling fire, perfect for champagne and canapés after a long day skiing or shopping, depending on your preference.
Eat
Head to Le Comptoir de L’Apogée. The restaurant opened last year as part of the new L’Apogee Courchevel hotel. Dig into the artisan cheeses, while taking in the incredible views of the slopes. Whilst you’re eating, the dedicated Ski Butlers will warm your ski boots for you and even place your skis on the slopes – ready to simply glide off down the mountain at your leisure.
Val d'Isere
Val d'Isere is perfect for those who love to ski – and for those who don’t. On the slopes, you can enjoy the endless thrills and spills of ‘Espace Killy’, one of the most famous high altitude ski areas in the French Alps. While off-piste, the world-class resort offers incredible cultural tours, luxury shopping and fine dining.
Stay
The Hotel Blizzard is a beautiful, sophisticated five-star hotel that offers warm alpine charm at the heart of the resort. The hotel has a Clarins beauty therapy, outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna, hammam and a heated indoor/outdoor pool and unique wooden hot tub at the foot of the famous Bellevarde slope.
Eat
Val d’sere has a buzzing après scene. We suggest eating at Grand Ourse. The restaurant has kept its thirties feel, with an open fire place and cosy atmosphere and traditional French menu. Once full, head out to one of the numerous bars and clubs, that keeps the streets buzzing until the early hours.
Lech, Austria
The quintessential Alpine resort with gorgeous chocolate box chalets. Lech is understated luxury at its best. Princess Diana took Prince William and Harry here for their childhood ski holidays, and it’s remained a favourite for European royalty ever since.
Stay
If you want a slightly cheaper alternative to Lech but still want to take advantage of what the area has to offer, you can easily ski to nearby St Anton. Chalet Levett is a huge chalet in St Anton catering for up to 21 people, perfect for groups of friends or large families travelling with Aunts, Uncles and nannies.
Eat
Fine dine at Otto Wagner, a traditional restaurant housed in the beautiful Kristania Hotel in Lech. The dining room is beautifully decorated with art from Max Cole, Roy Lichtenstein, Max Bill and Sam Francis. After dinner head downstairs to the Kaminzimmer bar to sample the largest collection of schnapps in Austria.
Verbier, Switzerland
Verbier is packed full of luxury bars and restaurants, while its location at the heart of Four Valleys in the Swiss Alps makes the vast area an amazing destination for skiing at all levels.
Stay
The new W Verbier. It’s been the talk of the town since it opened its doors last season. It’s the coolest (in more ways than one) place to be seen.
Eat
A must visit is Le Vache, owned by James Blunt, Lawrence Dallaglio and Carl Fogarty. Don’t let the decoration of three life-sized cows put you off; the food is delicious, filling and comforting.
