The Year of The Dragon is well underway and to celebrate a major milestone of the Chinese Traditional Calendar, watchmaker Jacob & Co. has released a dedicated timepiece of the mythical creature.
Entitled The Eternal Chase, the watch features the world’s only flying, central, twin, triple-axis, back-to-back tourbillon, housing a pair of miniature dragon sculptures.
Coiled around the large tourbillon sphere and around each other, the dragons’ bodies are crafted from rose gold, entirely lacquered by hand and see the dragons fly among clouds, with their heads chasing pearls of wisdom that are composed of Jacob-cut, 288-facet white diamonds. One dragon acts as the hour hand with the other acting as the minute hand.
The 50-mm rose gold case is invisibly-set with 192 white hexagon-cut diamonds (12 ct.).
The new timepiece joins Jacob & Co.’s collection of Astronomia Art pieces where the dragon is the central attraction and sees the starting price for one of these pieces come in at $350,000.
