Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort is welcoming visitors along Hawaii’s Kona Coast. Kennedy Wilson and Rosewood have reinvented the original 1960s property which was destroyed by a tsunami in 2011. Spanning 81 acres, Kona Village draws inspiration from the area’s heritage, culture and surroundings. The 150 traditional Hawaiian thatched roof huts, span one to four bedrooms and offer modern comforts while prioritising environmental responsibility. The resort’s restaurants and bars focus on fresh, local ingredients, international influences and indigenous practices.
The resort’s cultural centre pays tribute to the region’s history, the sacred archeological sites it is home to, and the region’s resources. Kahuwai Bay is the launch pad for the resort’s “Ocean Pursuits” program, from which highlights include guided paddle using the traditional Hawaiian canoe, with additional sports facilities including tennis, paddle and bocce ball courts and a fitness centre. The guest experience includes immersive programming, such as activities curated by Rosewood Explorers Keiki Club for children. The Hookipa lawn and stage hosts Kona Village’s l’au – traditional Hawaiian feasts. Just beyond, built into the black lava flow with views toward the Hualalai volcano, is Asaya Spa, which offers an integrative wellness concept.
