Along a pristine coastline dotted with awe-inspiring cliffs, verdant jungle, and virgin beaches lies the new Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo, Mexico, due to open later this year. Committed to preserving the natural landscape – only two per cent of the reserve has been developed for the resort – 157 contemporary rooms, many with private pools, offer guests the opportunity to connect to Mexican heritage and culture. An integral part of the property is the celebration of Mexican talent across all disciplines. Mexico’s greatest contemporary architects, Victor Legorreta and Mauricio Rocha, have come together as LegoRocha for this project, infusing every space with elements of pre-Hispanic culture and contemporary Mexican aesthetics. Decorative details and functional items have been hand-made by philanthropic alliances throughout the country.

Replacing traditional on-site chef’s gardens, the resort has a 35-acre working farm, Rancho Ortega, cultivating indigenous plants and supplying the resort’s restaurants with true zero-mile, root-to-dish produce. Dining across the resort’s four restaurants is in turn a blend of traditional flavours with modern techniques. At the central Discovery Centre, biologists are eager to introduce guests to the area’s biodiversity spanning multiple species and hundreds of animals. Further cultural immersion awaits at the spa, where a temazcal ceremony brings together medicinal herbs and spiritual rituals to encourage reflection, contemplation and re-connection.
