Opening later this year the new Rissai Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is an all-villa resort located near the heart of one of China’s earliest UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Jiuzhaigou National Park. 87 luxury villas are situated along the edge of the Tibetan Plateau with panoramic views of the beautiful snow-capped Minshan mountain range, deep woodlands, and ancient Tibetan villages. Celebrating the natural beauty and richness of the region, architectural firm WATG’s design pays homage to local Tibetan heritage using traditional building forms, locally-sourced materials and indigenous planting.
The angled shape of the villas mimics the surrounding mountain peaks and reflects the extraordinarily rugged landscape. The hotels three premium restaurants will offer a variety of dishes encompassing Tibetan, Sichuan, Cantonese, Italian, and Southeast Asian flavours. The resort is replete with a spa, indoor and outdoor event spaces and kids’ programs. Designed with sustainability in mind, every aspect of the resort’s impact on the natural environment has been carefully considered by the design team. Tucked into a 72,000-hectare nature reserve, Rissai Valley is set to become a destination where guests are able to slow down, reconnect and immerse themselves in nature.
