Head north from Dubai International Airport and the road leads to Sharjah, the understated sibling of better-known Dubai and Abu Dhabi and arguably the best-kept secret in the UAE. Here, Singapore-based hotel company The Lux Collective is bringing its unique blend of experience driven hospitality to the region with two striking resorts that tap into Sharjah’s incredible natural scenery.
LUX* Al Bridi Resort is set within 1,690 hectares of protected nature reserve, home to 50,000 wild animals and managed by the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority. The 35 luxurious private retreats break away from the bold colours and contemporary design of many LUX* properties (currently in the Indian Ocean and China), instead offering more understated interiors in a neutral palette that reflect the colours of the Al Bridi Nature Reserve. The resort will be home to a LUX* Me Spa and variety of dining options, as well as a discovery centre where guests can join in with conservation focused activities, while the nearby Al Dhaid Farm will offer interactive educational activities for kids.
Over on the east coast of the UAE, LUX* Al Jabal Resort sits on a 18.7-hectare hillside plot overlooking the Gulf of Oman and the crescent-shaped Khorfakkan Bay, a popular spot for water sports and dolphin sightings. Here, visitors will find 45 rooms and suites ranging from one to three bedrooms, including a spectacular Royal Suite with its own private swimming pool.
As well as the spa, dining and access to a private beach, guests will be able to dive into experiences that help them connect with local culture and community. Both resorts are expected to open in 2023.
