Nestled among the glass and steel behemoths of Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD), the 95-year-old building at 35 Robinson Road is a relic of old Singapore. After being purchased by Viva Land Group for a cool $240 million last month, the building has reinvented itself as Hotel Telegraph, Singapore, a 134-room luxury heritage hotel managed by Scotland-based Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI).
Originally built in the 1920s for the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company, the building has been through several incarnations over the years as the Cable and Wireless Building and the headquarters of the Telecommunications Authority of Singapore. Most recently, it was part of Accor’s SO/ brand of lifestyle hotels.

The colonial-era building, originally designed by architect F.G. Lundon from Singapore architectural firm Swan and Maclaren, stands adjacent to another Singapore landmark: the Lau Pa Sat hawker centre, where locals and visitors alike have congregated to savour food from across Southeast Asia since its inauguration in 1894.
Fantastically located for visitors doing business in the CBD or visiting the myriad attractions Singapore has to offer, Hotel Telegraph, Singapore, is also part of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) portfolio, enabling guests to benefit from the group’s INVITED loyalty programme.
