This month will see the unveiling of Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s Dhs149 million (US$40.6 million) refurbishment. With a storied history spanning over half a century, the hotel has been an iconic feature of Sydney’s urban landscape since its inception as the Wentworth Hotel in 1966. Its enviable location just footsteps away from Australia’s key landmarks, Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, has attracted an illustrious array of international dignitaries and celebrities, solidifying its status as a cultural hub. Now under the creative direction of architecture and interior design firm, Fender Katsalidis, the refurbishment of the heritage-listed property includes 436 guest rooms and suites that have been reimagined to offer a blend of luxury and comfort, alongside the redesign of public spaces and the grand entrance lobby.

New features of the hotel include the Health & Wellness Studio designed with a fully equipped gym, and an exclusive club lounge for existing members and day pass holders to relax, entertain and work. The in-house dining concepts have also been elevated with the introduction of its dining precinct, featuring two restaurants and two bars, alongside one of Sydney’s most iconic rooftop terraces. Guests will enjoy the best of Australian flame-cooked seafood at Tilda restaurant, while those looking for something more elegant can enjoy French-Vietnamese restaurant, Delta Rue.
