Following a two-year restoration, The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid has reopened, joining Marriott’s The Luxury Collection portfolio. Formerly The Westin Palace, the hotel re-emerges with a refined identity, infusing early 20th-Century elegance with modern design.

Located in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras and part of the UNESCO-listed Paisaje de la Luz, the hotel is steps from the Prado Museum and Retiro Park. The façade has been fully restored to its 1912 appearance, including terracotta flourishes and the revival of its original ‘Palace colour’. At its centre, the hotel’s famed glass and iron dome—comprising 1,875 panes—has been meticulously restored, reinstating a key architectural feature.

Interiors by Lázaro Rosa-Violán pay tribute to the building’s past, with custom art, hand-painted wallpapers inspired by El Retiro park and mosaic bathrooms reflecting the Royal Botanical Gardens. The redesign also includes 470 rooms and suites with residential elements such as marble fireplaces and mid-Century chandeliers.

The hotel’s restaurant, La Cúpula, sits beneath the dome, offering dishes that nod to historic guests such as Picasso and Julio Camba. Meanwhile, 27 Club, the revamped former Museo Bar, offers a cocktail menu referencing pre-Prohibition classics and literary figures from the Generation of ’27.
