The last 12 months have posed unprecedented challenges to our professional and private lives, as well as our health. There is at last light at the end of the tunnel, but we will all require strength to face the challenges that lay ahead. That is the thinking behind Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s Inner Strength – Outer Strength, a new wellness initiative designed to help guests prepare physically and mentally for whatever the future brings.
Drawing upon the expertise of the wellness experts, massage therapists, fitness trainers and meditation teachers in each of the group’s spas, the initiative involves activities and wellness plans designed to build both outer strength, including fitness, health and vitality, and inner strength, which touches on mindfulness, resilience, gratitude and willpower, as well as character strength.

At Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, guests can work on their inner strength by learning pranayama controlled breathing techniques and trying out mantra chanting, followed by intense fitness activities such as guided runs and boot camp sessions. In Macau, guests can indulge in an Inner Strength spa treatment followed by yoga and personal training sessions, while the team in Hong Kong are pairing singing bowl workshops with tailored fitness programmes based on a body composition analysis.
The programmes at each Mandarin Oriental spa can be tailored to the specific needs of each individual guest, working with trainers and health practitioners to define goals, set routines and help with motivation. The Mandarin Oriental website also offers downloadable guides to different areas of wellbeing, including sleep, nutrition and community.
