Bing!’ sounds the elevator to signal my arrival on the 29th floor of The Lana, Dubai - Dorchester Collection. The doors open and I step forward. I am greeted with textured walls, pale blonde woods and generous lighting, giving an immediate sense of calm and tranquillity. I have arrived at the Dior Spa The Lana.

Imagined by Gilles & Boisser, the venue is UAE’s first Dior Spa and the brand’s fifth globally. Spanning 4,300 square feet, there are five treatment rooms and one couple’s suite alongside a futon for Japanese-inspired treatments and a dedicated beauty room. I head for the front desk, passing a marble centrepiece, decked out in a collection of Christian Dior’s intoxicating fragrances. “Welcome to Dior Spa, Mr Matt! Please take a seat!”

I place myself on a plush, off-white sofa, adorned by cushions that sport Dior’s famed Toile de Jouy print – a regular sight throughout the spa. As I complete the standard formalities, I am presented with a tray of a cold, Dior emblazoned wet towel, a glass cylinder of hibiscus and rose tea and a pretty pink flower. As I sip on my tea, I gaze upon the elegant boutique of Dior product lines that include make-up, lipstick, fragrances and accessories – all of which can be purchased at the end of your visit.

The spa’s programming consists of a menu of signature Dior treatments like Escale at The Lana, Dior Stone Therapy and D-Sculpt that are complemented by modern beauty solutions such as Icoone Therapy, Hydrafacial, Dior Micro-Abrasion and the Dior Skin Light LED Therapy. Today, it’s the 60-minute relaxation massage that will be performed by Jeevan.

My treatment room is designated Étoile (or star for non-Francophiles) and it showcases minimalism at its best, with a treatment bed draped in super soft bed coverings, a lounge chair, a mirror and a sink – decluttered space, decluttered mind is my first thought. A sizeable adjoining changing room, doubles up as a bathroom with a rainfall shower. I changed into my Dior stamped, fluffy dressing gown and slippers and go back into the treatment room for my massage.
I always believe a good sign of a massage is if you can’t remember it; being so relaxed that you drift out of consciousness. Jeevan works his magic on my neck and shoulders where he says I have a lot of stress – modern desk jobs, I sigh. The 60 minutes seem to pass in an instant - probably because I am asleep for huge swathes - and once time is up, I redress and retire to my own private relaxation room.

Here, the panoramas that are surrendered are some of the best to be enjoyed in all of Business Bay. I sip on another cylinder of hibiscus iced tea and nibble on a Dior cookie while flicking through some Dior literature left on the coffee table. However, it is soon time to leave and after a quick browse of some of the brand’s new fragrances, I make my departure feeling refreshed and relaxed.
“We hope you enjoyed your treatment today and hope to see you very soon, Mr Matt!”, says the front desk receptionist. You certainly will!
