Taking inspiration from the world-famous The Run to Monaco, in which 26 supercars take a three-day trip from Brands Hatch in the UK to Monte-Carlo, via some of Europe’s most drivable roads, The Run to Yas has been launched in Abu Dhabi.
Setting off from the Omani capital Muscat, 30 international super car owners and enthusiasts will traverse the region’s best driving roads in a five-day motoring adventure culminating in a full weekend at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
With two veteran F1 drivers, including ex World Champion Damon Hill, taking part in the run, the participants will sample the finest hotels, restaurants and cultural activities that Abu Dhabi has to offer.
As part of the five-day itinerary, participants will enjoy luxury desert camping and snaking mountain drives in their own high performance vehicles, which, if the Monaco event is anything to go by, could range from Ferrari 458 Italias and Bugatti Veyrons to Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs.
Chris Welch, co-founder of the Run, said: “The route will bring together the highest levels of luxury, cuisine, entertainment and glamour – it is the ultimate once-in-a-lifetime experience and we’re confident our patrons will agree.”
There will even be the opportunity to experience a drive on Yas Marina Circuit with a Formula 1 driver and attend an exclusive event at the Amber Lounge with the who’s who of Formula One.
Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority plans to launch a global competition later this year to find an official Run to Yas correspondent, who will be responsible for filing daily ‘life on the road’ reports throughout the journey.
The lucky winner will receive an all-expenses paid weekend at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
