Combining the best features of a trimaran with all the bells and whistles of a superyacht is an ambitious task. A project that only young Welsh company Pi Yachts Ltd could have taken on — with a little help from UK-based McPherson Yacht Design, of course. Mixing technology with innovative design, the teams have created Dragonship 80, the flagship model of the new Dragonship range.
It’s the small details on this 80-metre, five-deck vessel that make it seem less of a trimaran and more of a luxury yacht. Automated controls adjust everything from the sail surface to the 360-degree rotational rig while the two wings can be tucked in to take the 30-metre beam down to 20, allowing Dragonship 80 better access to the world’s most exclusive marinas. Inside, 12 guests can spread out across six cabins and several spacious social areas including a dining room, spa, gym and library.
Not that you’d want to spend all your time inside — the aft end of the main deck is dedicated to al fresco dining, while the upper deck features a sky lounge with an exterior bar overlooking the jacuzzi. More deck space and another bar can also be found on the uppermost deck.
