Embedded in the hillside on the southwest coast of the Peloponnese, Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino looks like an elaborate lair belonging to a luxury-loving Bond villain. The 48 pool villas spill down the Mediterranean-facing slopes affording spectacular coastal views for their occupants, while the remaining 51 guest rooms are perched at the top of the resort. In addition to five restaurants and bars, the resort will be home to an extensive 1,500-square-metre wellness centre and spa with 25-metre indoor-outdoor swimming pool, indoor treatment rooms and outdoor pavilions.
Surrounded by sheltered bays, pristine beaches and the unspoiled landscape of the Messinia region, Costa Navarino is an ambitious mixed-use development comprising five distinct resorts areas, conceived by Greek developer TEMES. The project covers more than 1,000 hectares of coastal landscape and will be home to a collection of world-class hotels, spas and private residences, as well as extensive conference facilities, vineyards, olive groves and golf courses by the likes of Bernhard Langer, Robert Trent Jones II and José María Olazábal.
The resort, which is expected to open in spring 2023, marks Mandarin Oriental’s debut in the country.
