Luxury adventure specialist Eleven Experience has launched a dynamic new retreat in Northern Iceland, with tailored activities for both winter and summer seasons. Deplar Farm – formerly a working farmhouse – is already offering exclusive heli-skiing from now until May, within 3,885sqkm of remote mountain fjords, and a fly-fishing programme set for the summer, giving access to remote salmon beats.
In terms of accommodation, a 2,600sqm lodge has been transformed from a working sheep farm into a lavish Nordic retreat that can sleep up to 34 guests. The northern location ensures extended sunlight hours for heli-skiing, so guests can glide off-piste for up to 10 hours per day, until 8pm. Eleven’s in-house experience managers will also personally tailor each trip, offering a thrilling menu of outdoor pursuits, including frisbee golf and ski laser tag.
Other winter sport options include surfing with custom-made wetsuits, snowmobiling, clay pigeon shooting, ski-touring, ice-fishing, whale watching as well as private tours of Puffin Island, so you’ll be forgiven for skipping an excursion to the famous local herring museum.
For après-ski, the lodge’s resident mixologist is on hand to prepare cocktails while guests dine on local Icelandic delicacies prepared by the private chef. Deplar Farm also offers a library, entertainment room, conference room, terrace, karaoke and a full band set up for late night jamming sessions as well as two helicopter pads.
