The Museo del Prado, one of Madrid’s foremost attractions, has launched an exhibition with visually impaired visitors in mind.
Six works representative of different pictorial genres can now be touched thanks to the project, developed in collaboration with experts in the field of vision impairment.
The paintings can now be perceived by non-sighted visitors with the inclusion of the three-dimensional images, enhanced even further by didactic materials, such as braille and audio guides.
While visitors aren’t touching the original works, they will get to grips with high-resolution replicas, created through an innovative 3D printing press. What’s more, sighted visitors are also encouraged to enjoy the experience by applying a blindfold.
The unique collection is currently on display at the Museo del Prado’s North Gallery in an exhibit named and will run until June 28, 2015.
