Farm-to-table pioneer Simon Rogan is to take over HenRock restaurant at Linthwaite House, a 36-room boutique bolthole in the heart of the Lake District, in October. Situated just 30 minutes from the chef’s own farm, HenRock will embrace Rogan’s penchant for all-natural seasonal ingredients, but the menu will feature a selection of new dishes inspired by his travels around the world. Think raw aged beef with elderberry and shiso, or fried apple pie with miso butterscotch and cassia clotted cream; dishes that sound very much like great British classics given a surprising Asian twist.
Since opening L’Enclume in the Lake District village of Cartmel in 2002, Rogan has opened four more restaurants in the UK, which hold four Michelin stars between them. Earlier this year, the chef expanded his empire into Hong Kong with two new venues: Roganic and Aulis.
Set within 14 acres of gardens a kilometre from Lake Windemere, Linthwaite House was built as a family home in 1901. It’s most recent incarnation as a boutique retreat began in 2018, when it opened as part of the Leeu Collection. Linthwaite is the fourth member of the boutique collection; a fifth will open in Florance in 2021.
