The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, Mauritius, will open this spring as the first Westin branded hotel within the archipelago.
The resort will be situated on a beachfront location in Turtle Bay, Balaclava, which is famed as the breeding ground of the Mauritian green sea turtle, from which the area takes its name.
“Mauritius is known to be a melting pot of the past and present, and its natural beauty and stunning landscapes provide an oasis of peace and tranquillity for today’s busy traveller,” said Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East.
The new resort, owned by Blue Ocean Park, sits within tropical gardens, surrounded by sugarcane fields and mountains. The 190-room hotel contains 38 suites, which all feature Westin’s ‘Heavenly’ range of beds, showers and robes.
The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, Mauritius offers five dining venues, including an all-day restaurant, two specialty restaurants, a pool restaurant and bar, as well as the lobby lounge.
For functions, the 340 square metres of event space includes a ballroom, two meeting rooms and a fully-equipped business centre. For leisure, guests can relax at ‘The Heavenly Spa by Westin’, exercise at WestinWORKOUT, or make use of either of the two pools.
Located only 15 kilometres from the island's hub, Grand Baie, there are retail and nightlife options nearby, as well as the Marine Nature Park.
Operating firm Starwood currently operates two resorts in Mauritius, including The St. Regis Mauritius, which is located at the world-famous ‘One Eye’ kite-surfing spot in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Le Morne, and Le Méridien Ile Maurice, which is located on the North West coast bay of Pointe Aux Piments.
